Baggy Presentation Night

New representative players receive their BEARS baggy at a special presentation night. Details (date, time and venue) will be posted here once confirmed.

  • All new players must attend in smart casual clothes.
  • Families are welcome – great night for team photos.
  • Players are expected to wear their baggy with pride and according to the BEARS Code of Conduct.

Les Kinnane Memorial Shield

Development carnival for U13 players. Matches are generally one-day games with overs and bowling limits designed to give all players opportunities.

  • Quarters-style one-day format.
  • Strong focus on equal participation and development.

Melissa Bulow Cup

U13 girls development carnival. Format emphasises skill development, participation and learning 40-over cricket in a supportive environment.

  • 40-over matches with quarters.
  • Retirement and bowling limits to share opportunities.

QJC / State Challenge

Queensland Junior Cricket Championship and State Challenge events for various age groups, generally 40 or 50-over matches and T20 games under formal playing conditions.

  • Balls-per-batter and bowling workload restrictions.
  • Mandatory helmets and player safety requirements.
  • Full U13 playing conditions in Forms & Policies.

Training & Practice Schedules

Schedules are kept up to date by team managers and coaches. Please check back regularly during the season for changes.

Volunteering

BEARS junior representative cricket relies on volunteers. Each team needs a coach, manager, scorers and occasional umpires. Below is a summary of the main roles.

Team Manager

  • Primary contact between BEARS, players and parents.
  • Collects and tracks medical forms, code of conduct and other paperwork.
  • Helps coordinate training, practice matches and carnival logistics.
  • Supports team culture and ensures off-field standards are met.

Coach

  • Plans and runs training sessions.
  • Sets batting and bowling orders and on-field strategies.
  • Ensures development carnivals provide fair opportunities for all players.
  • Works with manager on player workload and welfare.

Scorer

  • Scores matches on paper or electronic system.
  • Checks scores with opposition scorers at breaks.
  • Assists manager and coach with stats when needed.

Umpiring & Other Support

  • Parents may be asked to help with square leg umpiring.
  • Transport, lunches and laundry support at carnivals.
  • Positive sideline behaviour in line with the BEARS Code of Conduct.
